Weird and Interesting but Toxic

DOSE:
12 g oral Tabernaemontana spp. (tea)
    smoked Cannabis (daily)
BODY WEIGHT: 70 kg
Background : I'm a daily pot user for 30 years and am very experienced with Salvia divinorum, Amanita muscaria, Kratom, San Pedro, Virola theiodora/peruviana, 2C-D and LSA containing Rivea corymbosa seeds. I also had a strong Tabernanthe iboga experience in a misoko Bwiti setting (therapeutic more than religious), which means I tripped and vomited for 2 days under the supervision of an experienced Gabonese Nganga. I also tried low dosages of Voacanga africana extract and Yohimbe (which are said to be related to Iboga and Tabernaemontana).

I've bought 250 grams of Tabernaemontana sanaho from a reputable online ethnobotanical shop. It came as shredded wood. All the info I've got is that leaves are used in traditional medicine, that it can been combined with Virola to produce an hallucinogenic tea and that it is related to T. iboga.

Having no info about the dosage to be used and preparation methods, I first brewed some tea using 12 grams of wood. The wood is very hard and I didn't succeed in powdering it with coffee grinder. I boiled the wood for 20 minutes. The taste is somewhere between flowers and industrial sausage.
The taste is somewhere between flowers and industrial sausage.
It's not great but not bad (but it comes from someone who actually likes the taste of Kratom....). It is stomach friendly. The effects come up in 20 minutes and last for more than 4 hours. Combined with low/mid grade pot, it produced a dreamy state with some minor visual enhancement. It compares to mild dissociatives like Virola spp (used as tea in the 30 /100 grams range, 50g being my usual dose) and Voacanga.

My mind is more blank with Tabernaemontana sanaho than with any other psychoactive I've sampled. Something unique about this substance is that It makes the lips, tongue and nose cold and numb. This effect becomes stronger during the 'trip' and after 1 hour slowly extends to the feet and top of the skull. I don't know what produces this effect and first, I thought that it was related to some vaso-constriction going on, but in the end, I don't think this is the case.

I tried stronger dosages using the same method. The floaty and dreamy feeling increases with dosage. In the 40-50 grams range, the numbness affects the skin of the whole body progressively after having begun by the lips and nose. This state is rather comfortable. Heartbeat, breathing and stomach are exactly as normal.

The wrong side is that with dosages over 20 grams, there's a hangover the next day, which lasts two days with a 50 grams dose. It's no fun at all. It's not an alcohol-like hangover, it's more like having the flu without fever. It brings a very uncomfortable feeling of being weak and ill. The immune system seems a bit depressed and the mind is painfully foggy and stupid. I've never tried something stronger than 50 grams and I'm pretty happy I didn't. After having consumed all I had, I swore I'll never take some again, although it's a nice high.

I've tried the combination with Virola and found it disappointing. There's no synergy between the two trees, the effects simply add without bringing anything new or deeper.

The effects of Tabernaemontana sanaho, positive or negative, have nothing in common with Iboga at all. Iboga brings strong insight, is stimulant, visionary and cleans the body. It doesn't make the mind blank, produces no numbness and has no painful hangover. Tabernaemontana sanaho may be a little bit closer to Voacanga but is in its own class. The floaty and dreamy state and the numbness are very pleasant, but produce no insight or visionary experience. Feeling ill for one or two days isn't a fair price for a moderate and a bit empty 'trip'.

Also, my method of preparation can be wrong. The way I used it, it was dirty and poisonous.
