DOSE:
200 mg oral Modafinil
BODY WEIGHT: 118 kg
This is a description of my first time taking modafinil. Firstly, some background. My reason for using modafinil (Modalert) is simply to maintain my productivity on the odd occasion that I don't get a good night of sleep. I have no intention of using it on a daily basis, and don't expect to take more than 2 or 3 per month. I'm a mid-level business executive with a verified above average IQ. I try to use good food, mental exercises and productivity hacks before turning to pharmaceuticals. I should note that I do not use any recreational drugs, and I am not on any prescription medication.

I took 200mg of modafinil at 10:30am, and am writing this at 4:30pm. There was no dramatic change after taking it, although after about 20 minutes I could feel some subtle effects. I became slightly more aware of some aches and pains in my body (I suffer from occasional back pain) but nothing to be alarmed about. I'd lingered over breakfast earlier and felt a very slightly increased urge to get ready and accomplish my tasks for the day.

My general perception of reality, along with my overall mood, feelings of wellbeing and core personality do not seem to have been altered at all. The best way I can describe it is that I feel refreshed, like after a good sleep or a gentle massage.

There was no euphoria at all - there's definitely no recreational use for it.

I travelled to a local cafe to have some lunch and get some work done. Driving and generally going about my business all felt perfectly normal. I was slightly more alert as one would be after a great night of sleep. I had a good conversation with an old friend and felt like I could better articulate my thoughts. I am a fairly eloquent speaker anyway, but I did not have to pause to think of a word like we all sometimes do.

Some have reported appetite suppression on modafinil - this did not occur to me. I ate a full lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a few hours later and I could definitely do with a snack!

After lunch I got stuck into some work that I'd been putting off for a few days. I wrote in 30 minutes what would've normally taken me 2 hours (including procrastination). I certainly didn't feel 'in the zone', just slightly more inclined to get it finished. The work I completed was of a high quality, as verified by my manager.

I don't feel wired, jittery or anxious. I feel exactly as I normally do, except not at all tired. I do feel that I could sleep if I wanted to, and expect to sleep normally tonight.

I can't speak for the long term effects of this drug.

So far it's had a noticeable but fairly mild effect on me. I haven't experienced any negative side effects apart from increased productivity and slightly improved motivation, but I didn't expect to after just a single dose. I'm also going to assume that my relatively large body mass contributes to the muted effects of the dose on me. I wouldn't be willing to take any more though.
