I have lots of experience with the 'legal herbs' section of psychoactive substances because Cannabis is quite expensive in northern Utah. My experience with psychoactives includes Cannabis, Nutmeg, Tobacco, Cloves, Russian Sage, Psilocybin Mushrooms, a one time encounter with spice, vyvanse, and Caffeine.

I first learned about the recreational use of cloves when I was convinced to smoke part of a Djarum Black clove/tobacco cigarette. Although I am not fond of tobacco I did detect something distinct from the nicotine that I did like. I have since then done quite a bit of research on cloves and eugenol. I have also smoked, chewed, drank, and eaten cloves by themselves and in combination with weed.

I found the best ways to consume cloves are either by chewing whole cloves for 15 minutes and swallowing, or by topping a bowl of anything [like Russian Sage] with a large amount of ground cloves. I inhale the smoke deeply and breathe in air after, then exhale hard. I do not allow much time between inhalations. It takes about as long as weed to hit me but when it does if I've done it correctly I will feel slightly disconnected from my body and numb all over my mouth, throat, nose, and lungs. I may feel giddy, or tired, or relaxed, or I may just be so high I don't even know what's going on. When I do it it usually lasts 45 minutes to an hour. The peak of the high is about 15 mins after I smoke and it slowly tapers off from there.

They are definitely weird. Smoking reefer and cloves is an insane trip. I don't think it's a good idea to use them very much. They are definitely the best legal high that I have tried.
