Great Alternative to Coffee
Modafinil
Citation:   Concerned Student. "Great Alternative to Coffee: An Experience with Modafinil (exp92898)". Erowid.org. Jan 1, 2016. erowid.org/exp/92898

DOSE:
100 mg oral Modafinil (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 170 lb
I am writing to report my experiences with Modafinil. I am stuck in a very hard situation with my biochemistry. I have always felt I don't have as much energy as other people. (I.e. I need at least eight hours of sleep at night to function, often needing more than ten hours). However, I am also very sensitive to any sort of stimulant. One cup of coffee or tea makes me paranoid, anxious, jittery, restless, and hypoglycemic beyond measure. Therefore, the quandary is that I need energy boosters as much or more than other people; however, I cannot use the most common sources of wakefulness (i.e. coffee).

I have tried Modafinil at different doses over the years (prescribed legally by doctors, of course). I find the best dose is 100 mg's for every 12 hours of wakefulness needed. Of course, it's best to take immediately upon waking. Taking it too late in the day makes it impossible to get to sleep. Anything over 100 mg's causes the same over-activation and anxiety with stimulant medication (i.e. the anxiety, paranoia, restlessness, irritability, etc.).
