First, I will go into a little background about myself. I was 21 when I started really doing meth and now at 22, I still do it from time to time (not as frequent as before). I am a college student with excellent grades, I have a small family (an unsupportive one, unfortunately) and I have always considered myself to be a “loner”. Nor did I ever have the desire to do any hard drugs such as crack, heroin and especially meth.

I will provide a summary of how my first experience with meth went. When I was about 18 years old, I move down south and it took me a while to conjure up some “friends”. I did, but they sort of came and went and I always found myself without any friends to hang out with. Well, in fall of 2009, I met a cool guy that I thought would be an awesome friend. He never striked me as the type that would do any illegal substances. After a while, we were sitting and chilling and the topic came up about weed and some other drugs. I had openly told him that I have done all sorts of drugs, except a few. As soon as I said that, he pulled out weed, a bowl, a baggie of meth and a long oil burner pipe. For those that are not familiar with that type of pipe, it is a long tube made out of glass and it has a spherical bowl at the end with a tiny hole at the top meant for inserting the crystals. Anyways, I asked him if I could try some of the meth and he sort of chuckled at the “newbie” asking to “try some”. He cut up two small lines for me to take. I rolled up a dollar bill and snorted up every last bit.

After about 5 minutes, I got frustrated because I did not feel anything but a slightly scratchy throat and an urge to sniff to keep my snot in. After about five more minutes or so, I stood up to make a phone call. That is when the incredible rush filled my body from head to toe. I started experiencing strong happy feelings, and a lot of old memories suddenly popped up in my brain.
I started experiencing strong happy feelings, and a lot of old memories suddenly popped up in my brain.
I felt extra ambitious, talkative and motivated to conquer anything I wanted to conquer. I also felt extremely aroused, but I ignored that part. I was getting on my friend’s nerves by talking loudly, nonstop. He chilled me out with some weed, but it did not work.

That is when my love for meth set in and I HAD to have another line. After doing that line, I felt sluggish as if I could not move, yet I was more awake than ever. I felt happy, I loved the world around me and my increasingly sore throat did not bother me one bit. I ended up heading home about 2 hours following my first line and my friend was kind enough to let me help myself to about a half of a gram to take home.

This first experience was the start of one of the biggest downward spirals that I have ever encountered in my life. Just to conclude my summary: Meth made me fall in love. It hypnotized me and seduced me while slowly killing me without me even noticing. It became my companion, my lover, my mistress, my sibling, my pet; it replaced everything I love with it. It is pure evil in crystal form. This is coming from someone that still loves this drug but wants to hate itself.
