I took psilocybin mushrooms for the first time the other night. This trip occurred on August 18 2009.

A little introduction: I'm interested in all psychoactive substances, but especially the naturals because of their long history of use by man. Natural entheogens make me feel connected with the shamans and sages of past, learning more about myself by tapping into an ancient knowledge which unfortunately has been criminalized in modern times.

My past drug history includes (not counting alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, and the such): Marijauana & hashish, Salvia, Cocaine, MDMA, DXM, Alprazolam, Clonazepam, Tramadol, Dimenhydrinate, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Morphine

I have been meaning to do mushrooms for a long time, but have never had the opportunity until now. The thing is I've been broke as hell for a while now, and I haven't been able to buy any psychedelics that I've been wanting to experience. I live in a somewhat rural town in the mountains (about 2,500 people) and drugs are hard to come by and are ridiculously overpriced. Luckily for me, I came upon a good deal and have some good friends.

A neighbor of mine brought some mushrooms up with him from a recent road trip to Phoenix, AZ. He called them 'blueberry caps' and said they were dank as fuck. They were smallish and off-white/grey with most of the smaller shrooms having blue caps. He wanted $50 an eighth for them, which is pretty outrageous, but I live in southern Utah, so this would still sell no problem here, like I said, the drugs are scarce. This guy was new in town, so he didn't really know too many people, and ended up not being able to sell them. So after a few days he told me he'd trade them for an eighth of bud. I've picked up for this guy before and I've explained to him there's not a whole lot of chronic around here and he said he doesn't mind schwag. He also knows that a eighth of schwag around here is not $50. I didn't have any money myself, but my friends T and J scrounged up $30 for the bud. We pinched a little finder's fee and dude smoked us a bowl when we brought it to him. Even though the bag was a little light, he handed over the shrooms.

We decided we'd split the eighth equally three ways, which would give us approx. 1.16 grams each. J had taken the same strain of shrooms before and assured T and I that we would grill pretty good, considering it was both of our first time taking mushrooms. J parted ways with T and I because we were going to T's house, but J needed to be home that night and wouldn't have had a way to get back to his house. J told me the next day he ended up selling his portion for $15 that night because he didn't feel like grilling alone and could use some cigarette money.

We ate the shrooms in T's room and then headed outside to take a walk to a nearby cave about 15 minutes away. It was just getting dark when we got to the cave and I was already starting to feel a slight change in my body, like an energy in my core. My legs were restless and tingled a little bit. We smoked a bowl of some schwag and enjoyed the view from the cave, which was on a hill overlooking a valley and the highway. That's when I noticed the first effects.

Things just looked different. I looked at my hands and they didn't look like my own. Stars where blinking red and blue and objects in my peripheral vision were shifting. I closed my eyes and noticed very slight CEVs of fractal-like blobs and tunnels. We climbed down from the cave and decided we would walk back to T's house and enjoy our trip in his bedroom as it was getting pretty dark outside. On the walk home I experienced a few more visuals. I looked up at the sky and could see the diagrams for star constellations (the lines and dots and such). I looked down at my hands and spun them around like when I'm rolling and have glowsticks and my hands detached from my wrists and continued spinning on their own. I also noticed that T and I had auras. T freaked out for a moment because he saw the grim reaper take shape in the branches of a tree, but calmed himself down after a few seconds.

When we arrived back at T's house we stopped to smoke a cigarette on his front porch. This is when the shrooms really started to hit us good. I looked out a the sky and the edges of my field of vision were bowed and everything seemed spherical, like looking through a fisheye lens. Trees and stars were moving and everything seemed to be alive. Right before we went inside I took one last look at the stars and they melted and dripped down the sky. Awesome!

We went straight up the stairs as T's family were all downstairs watching TV. When we got inside T's room, he told me to pick a movie as he'd had already seen them all a million times. We both just stared at the movies for a good ten minutes, not knowing what to do. T eventually just popped in Beerfest, a movie I really don't think is that funny, but I was fine with the choice. I had the giggles pretty good, so I laughed quite a bit, people with beards and other random shit would almost bring us to tears. A couple of minutes into the movie, I noticed how much more vibrant the colors looked. This was one of my favorite aspects of mushrooms, how intense color is. Some of the characters were wearing plaid flannel shirts and it was nuts. I noticed alot of audio distortions too, like people's voices changing pitch rapidly, and a flanger type effect on some sounds.

I also noticed some of the hallucinations were related to perspective, like when the camera angle was pointing slightly downward, everyone would look like midgets. I had other visuals as well, like people's heads shrinking, flashes of color, things melting, breathing, rippling, etc. The shrooms actually made the movie quite trippy. Also of note where these crazy conspiracy theory thoughts that ran through my head for a while (i.e. that I hadn't really taken mushrooms, but had been fooled into believing I had, etc.) and the lovely body high. We also ended up smoking another bowl or two sometime during the movie, intensified the visuals slightly, but made me feel a little less clear-headed, and a little tired. T's mom drove me home that night which resulted in quite an intense car ride. It seemed like we were going 200mph when we were going 40.

I'm quite stoked about the whole trip, I really enjoyed myself. Even though the more intense visuals only lasted around 2 hours, I could still feel the mushrooms for a good 4 more. I'm excited about the next time I take mushrooms, hopefully a larger dose, maybe half an eighth or a full one.
