DOSE:
50 mg IV Pharms - Meperidine (ground / crushed)
BODY WEIGHT: 145 lb
As with all the reports I write, I'll provide some personal background. I'm a 145 lb, very athletic male, 21 years old. I'm a very experienced drug user, and prior use includes MJ, benzos (xanax, valium), mushrooms in low and very high doses, amphetamines (oral and IV), and opioids/opiates (oral, subcutaneous, and IV oxycodone, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, morphine, codeine...just about every one there is except heroin and oxymorphone). As of late, I've been using anywhere from 15-45 mg of oxycodone IV a day, along with a dose of 30-50 mg of adderall every other day or so, as needed.

So tonight, I decided to prep a shot of meperidine and slam it to give it a try. I've heard a lot of negative things about the drug, and in the healthcare field, other opioids are far better for treatment of all the usual opioid indications. Mood wise, I'm calm and collected, and very content. I've already taken about 15 mgs of oxycodone IV at around 1 PM, and it was around 5:30 when I injected the meperidine, but the oxy wore off, and I'm left with a content afterglow. I had a 50 mg generic meperidine tablet (Actavis brand). Before doing anything, I cleaned my hands with one of those alcohol instant hand wash gels. Then, I crushed the tablet in a pill crusher that I first cleaned thorougly with rubbing alcohol and allowed to dry. I drew up 100 units (1 cc) of water into a new sterile BD 30 gauge insulin syringe and squirted the water onto the powder in the crusher. I prefer to use as much water as I can so all the drug dissolves. I have a pen which has a large plastic end that's sealed and perfect for mixing everything together, so after cleaning that with alcohol, I used it to crush up whatever large pieces of pill were left and mix it up for about 30 seconds. Being outta q-tips, which I prefer for filtering shots, I rolled up a small ball of clean cotton and put it in the liquid. Then I gently stuck the syringe needle into the cotton and drew up the shot. Even for an experienced injector, I can't always get the shot to draw up on the first try. I cleaned my arm with alcohol and let it dry. Personally, I do a few pushups and my veins stick out, so I don't need to tie off. Keeping the syringe as flat as I could, I entered the long straight vein about an inch beyond where the fork veins meet on the inside of my forearm, registered red, and pushed the plunger.

Before I even finished injecting, I felt it in my veins. Meperidine, at least the tablet I used, BURNS when it goes in. I could trace the burn all the way up my arm, into my subclavian vein below my collarbone, and into my heart, where it was finally diluted enough to not burn that much. Lesson: When the prescribing information says administer by slow IV push, LISTEN TO IT, lol. I waited around a minute in my chair, not expecting to feel any major rush, and I can say meperidine met my expectations. The only things I felt were a mild stimulatory effect similar to caffeine. Upon standing up, I noticed a few strange ocular effects, I guess best described as a dizzy, wonky feeling, slightly disorienting. I noticed mild warmth in my arms and legs, and a mild relaxation, but nothing significant. Overall, meperidine was not all that great, but I imagine if I took a higher dose to account for my tolerance, it would be a little more interesting. As a result, I don't wanna knock it quite yet until I try a larger dose. In the meantime though, I'm gonna stick with my loyal companions oxycodone and hydromorphone for my relaxing needs.
