I consider myself to be a very experienced psychonaut and I pride myself on knowing as much as I can about the different drugs that I take and their physiological effects on my body and brain. I take psychadelics almost exclusively, and this once I ventured to take a drug outside of that family for a very specific purpose.

I am a martial artist and an avid bodybuilder. In my research on GHB, I became interested in its prohormone effects and decided to include it in my regimen of supplements. I was to do 1ml, carefully measured, every evening before bed. I had read that the prohormone effect is greatest during GHB-assisted sleep, as it is during sleep that the body rebuilds most of its muscle tissues. So that is what I did, and I did indeed notice an increased level of muscle growth and decreased recovery times.

One night, I decided to stop by a friends house to sample some new 'killer herb' he had picked up that day. We shared a single joint. To his credit, it was indeed killer. I had the worst case of munchies in recent memory. On the way back to my home, I decided to remedy this with a quick stop a massive burritos - extra hots. I believe the hots may have saved my life.

I arrived home and took my normal 1ml of GHB. I waited roughly 10 minutes before I devoured my burrito, gulped down a large protein shake and promptly went to bed. As I settled myself in my bed, the effects of the GHB were coming on rapidly. I awoke, nearly an hour later, feeling strangled. My entire head from my eyes, into my nasal passage, in my mouth, down my throat and into my lungs burned like fire. I was weak, numb and gasping for breath. When I opened my mouth to gasp for my initial breath I realized that my mouth had been filled with vomit. It was the hot peppers from the burrito, aspirated into my lungs, that had woken me. Breathing was extremely difficult and it took nearly 24 hours for it to return to normal.

I believe that this happened as the result of over-filling my stomach with the burrito / shake combination. Under the influence of GHB, I was totally unable to prevent my stomach from relieving itself of the excess pressure. Normally it would have been little more than an unpleasant burp, and would have been handled by involuntary reflex. This I believe could have proven fatal.

Aspiration of vomit can occur with this substance.
