DOSE:
repeated oral Pharms - Zolpidem (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 140 lb
[Erowid Note: The dose described in this report is very high, potentially beyond Erowid's 'heavy' range, and could pose serious health risks or result in unwanted, extreme effects. Sometimes extremely high doses reported are errors rather than actual doses used.]
I was prescribed Ambien for insomnia and had heard very good things about the drug. I was excited when I recieved 20 pills with a refill because I was under the impression that this substance was only given out with 10 pills or so.

I went to a friends house and explained the drug to them. From reports I read I was under the impression that the drug was similar to Valium but a bit more psychadelic. Out of the 20 I gave one friend 3 and one friend 2. They took both theirs and I took 3 of mine. We were sitting and watching a movie and in about a half an hour they began to work. It is difficult to describe the effects of this drug. It is not really similar to anything else. The drug is not subtle, but I do not notice the effects as much as I thought I might. We'd laugh and turn our heads around and say that we felt it, but it was not very enjoyable. I remember I tried to snort a pill but it was awfully painful. I continued to pop the pills.

[Erowid Note: Driving while intoxicated, tripping, or extremely sleep deprived is dangerous and irresponsible because it endangers other people. Don't do it!]
The rest of the day is a blur. I must have spent a couple hours watching a movie and just zoning out. I remember driving home (which was incredibly difficult). When I got home, I thought I was semi-normal, so I sat down to read a book. Upon reading I learned that it was impossible to read. I understood each word but after a sentence or two it was impossible to put it all together. I must have tried as hard as I could to read a paragraph for literally 30 minutes. It did not click in my head that it was this drug that made me unable to read. I continued popping the pills and talking to people online when I must have popped about 10 of them. Soon, my motor control was completely useless, and I was falling on the floor repeatedly. I have had loads of alcohol before, and I know what it's like to fall down. But when I was under the influence of Ambien, I fell 100% and had absolute no control over it. I would try to stand up and the room would spin and I would crash down into my table without any capability to put my arms out to stop me. This whole time I was laughing but when I think of it now it wasn't really funny, and I could have seriously injured myself. This drug takes away your inhibitions more than anything else I have ever done. It is like being drunk but it debilitates you more physically and takes away your inhibitions COMPLETELY.

I woke the next day to find that all of my 15 pills were gone. While I was high I had no control over myself and I just shoveled the pills into my mouth even though I did not even want them that much.

This experience was not enjoyable.
