This is the report of my first bad or “challenging’ trip on really any psychedelic. Before this experience I had used almost every drug imaginable. DMT, LSD, mushrooms, cocaine, opiates, methamphetamine, DXM, DPH, you get the point. I consumed a dose of 4 dried grams of Psilocybe Cubensis mushrooms via Lemon Tek method. This report took place at night.
I consumed the mushrooms and started watching Moana to distract me from the nausea I usually get from mushrooms. Within 15 minutes I had been struck with extreme nausea and vertigo. My hands were also extremely sweaty, although no real mental effects could be felt yet. Within 45 minutes, the classic tryptamine feeling started to consume me. I got a little bit lightheaded, and could see rainbow color spots around points of light. I was struck with an extremely powerful euphoria, more euphoric than MDMA. I had a warm and pleasant buzzing feeling on my skin that somewhat reminded me of a cannabis body high. My skin was sensitive and I felt warm and in love with everything, in awe of this amazing universe we live in. I finished the movie and decided to go turn on the light. I turned it on and everything I looked at slightly shimmered and breathed. Colors were also much more saturated.
Here is where I made a mistake. In my euphoric drunken state, I went to my closet and decided I would take a cannabis edible. I took an empty adderall capsule that was filled with decarboxylated cannabis flower, but the negative effects of this would not be felt til later, as my body takes quite some time to digest cannabis edibles.
I turned my light back off and opened my window. I live right next to a massive mountain range and looking out of the window I felt a female mother like spirit embody the mountains. This was very very pleasant. Looking up at the clouds in the night sky, they made it look like the entire sky was one big tie dye blanket. I laid back down in bed and decided I was going to listen to the Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. All sounds around me were extremely echoey, I find this effect quite pleasant as it matches perfectly with DSOTM.
This is when things really started to kick up a notch. When I closed my eyes I saw fully immersive, 3D, DMT like visuals that would move to the music. This was very intense. At this point I was extremely sweaty and I had tears running down my face (This is a physical side effect that I get from mushrooms, kind of like when you yawn and your eyes water up.)
I was on the last song of the album and this is the most intense moment of the trip. I was sitting there in my underwear, and while the album was about to end I literally saw my entire body age, my hair going grey, and I literally witnessed my own death. It was like I literally time traveled to the future onto my deathbed. This was not scary but extremely emotional and healing. The trip had yet to go bad.

This is when things went bad. Before I took the mushrooms I posted a picture of them on my Snapchat story. Later somebody I didn’t even know messaged me telling me I need to go to rehab and I’m disconnected from reality (keep in mind I had never even talked to this person previously). This sent me down the rabbit hole. I started thinking thoughts like, “what if he’s right, what if the drugs I did in the past cause me to have schizophrenia and I will never recover”. I looked up the symptoms of schizophrenia and for some reason in my state of mind I was convinced that I had it.
Sitting there on my bed starting to panic I perceived that I was in a mental hospital, and heard a voice say something along the lines of, “yes this man is extremely disturbed.” This is my worst fear. I was literally living in my worst nightmare, fully vivid and I was convinced I was there. I was also dripping in sweat so hot and I started to really just freak out. I sat in my bed for what seemed like hours just breathing and trying to calm down.
I went downstairs to get a glass of water and take some melatonin. I ended up going to sleep in the basement because it is very cold down there and I was absolutely covered in sweat. I sat in the basement bedroom tossing and turning, thinking about every time I have treated someone terrible, thinking about how my dog is getting very old and not wanting to lose her. I finally fell asleep around 5 a.m.
I am writing this report the day after the trip. I have yet to figure out what the mushrooms wanted to teach me, but I think I am going to take a long break from psychedelics; and I will never ever mix cannabis with mushrooms again.
