Heroin

So I had been using heroin for around 2.5 years, smoking it until around 9 months ago...

In recent times to stretch my cash further, as well as hanging out with I.V users, I decided to embark onto the sharp trail of I.V heroin use in a black market climate... needless to say things were not going to stay good forever...

About 3 months ago I learned to use a needle properly, as I am in the UK I only get access to "middle eastern #3" freebase heroin, a kind which is ready made for smoking, for us to inject this requires us to mix it with an acid to create a salt, much more approachable to our veins!

One night I tie off and start hitting a vein on my inner arm, i tie very tight and dont feel the pain till i get it all in...

5 seconds later i feel a massive thudding heartbeat in my skull, agony permeates my every cell! I feel all the pressure in my hand and it swells to 5 times its size, i run it under a cold tap to stop swelling, I still feel terrible, even if opiates are in my system they are not in the right place! Sadly it was my right arm that I usually selected to pin cushion, no idea why as I am right handed!

It took around 4 hours for the throbbing to stop and in the next few days i moved back to smoking it, as well as this my swelling took about 4 days to go down, this was about 5,5 years ago, then I have been clean 3 years, this remains a vivid and painful memory of my heroin use and a reminder never to go back!
