I had an episode of psychosis. It was diagnosed as mania due to bipolar. I disagree. I hadn’t been sleeping for several days, had a bunch of realizations at once, and who knows what else, and the response was a psychotic break with a side of blacking out. At any rate, I ended up in a temporary mental health facility, and was put on Lithium because I asked for it (I thought the number needed to treat was high) and the psychiatrist put me on Risperidone.

The combination had me tired. Not like sleepy tired (I could have used that) more like worn out, bit of a walking shell. I was constantly feeling blech, bummed, and moody. At several points when alone I collapsed in tears for no significant reason. I was subdued, down and had little concentration. I could hardly pay attention to my friends conversations. I couldn’t be excited or happy. I was content or meh. I also felt seasick anytime I got excited or stressed, but that began to ease a bit right before they took me off the Risperidone.

I have been having persistent existential thoughts thanks to my delusion. When I was on both these medications these thoughts would pull me down, but also droned like a constant background. After I got off the Risperidone, my moods and these thoughts got cranked up to 11 for about two days. I also think the Risperidone may have evened my temper a bit or made me care less, because I am more cranky and reactive now that I am off of it.
