I took approximately 200mg of MDMA about 5 days prior to this experience. I took approximately 30mg of 4-ACO-MIPT 4 days prior to this experience. I took approximately 45mg of 4-ACO-MET 3 days prior to this experience. This takes place in the days after christmas holidays/new year's eve. I had come down with some sort of flu at this point. My friend A and I had been planning to trip acid together for a while, as we were both psychonauts, and despite knowing each other for a few years, had never tripped together. We blocked out a day for it, and by this time, I was feeling better, so we decided to go through with it.
T - 3:30
I wake around 8am, drink 30mL of dayquil because I have been sick (this comes out to be around 20mg of DXM), and eat a bagel. Then I go about tidying up the house prepping for my friend's arrival.
T - 1:00
My friend A comes over around 10:30/11am with some snacks. After some catching up/light conversation, I weigh out 65mg of MET on my scale and he packs a bowl of weed, which we layer the MET over. While I'm weighing out the MET, I accidentally spill some more, coming out to around 120mg of MET. I scoop up the other 55mg into a small gel capsule and put it to the side. However, I don't think we did it right, as A packs the entire bowl full of weed so I am forced to sprinkle the MET over the top of the bowl (I think it would have worked better if he had packed a little weed, we'd sprinkled the MET in the middle, and then he'd packed more weed on the top). We start trying to smoke the MET, but we're mostly just burning it. I definitely get a different body high that would not normally be present with just weed, but don't get practically any CEVs or OEVs. We smoke the bowl about halfway down and I decide to sprinkle the rest of the MET capsule (the 55mg) onto it. We keep trying to smoke it, but I think we are still just burning it and aren't getting anywhere. We give up, place the bowl aside, and decide to get to the main event: the acid.

A takes 2 100mcg tabs of ALD-52, I take 3 100mcg tabs of ALD-52, and we split a CBD gummy bear for about 150mg of CBD each. A said he likes to take the CBD bears to reduce come-up anxiety. I'm normally OK on acid come-ups (tryptamine come-ups are worse IMO), but I decide it can't hurt and might make the trip a little stronger, so I'm down. We sit around talking for around 1.5 hours, until we both begin to see large patterns forming pretty consistently on my cieling. It's probably around 12:30pm. The patterns take on a yellow/blue tint for me, and they are highly detailed and perfectly geometric. I decide to start the movie: Redline (directed by Takeshi Koike). I have seen Redline on acid before, and it is a wild, hilarious ride, and I wanted to show it to my friend A. We thoroughly enjoy the movie in all its ridiculousness. It seems crazy how quickly time is passing for us; almost as if no time had passed at all, despite every time I check my watch it almost 30 minutes later. We get up several times to pee during the movie. A tells me that it feels almost as if the movie is talking to him. We chat about what's going on in the movie at certain points, and are both quietly introspecting during others. I have some deep thoughts about my own life during this time. It's been around 6 months since my last acid trip, and I've mostly been doing tryptamines, so I find that it is indeed quite a different experience. It's as-if I am fully collecting and processing all of the sensory input that I would normally ignore, and relating that input back to other concepts. At several points in the movie, we both notice these strange frames of animation, which I believe are actually in the movie, but when sober, our brains just ignore them.

After the movie finishes, we both take a pit stop to use the restroom and eat a light snack. A eats some nuts and I eat a pear. I also go into the bathroom and take another 30mg of dayquil since I figure the other dose is wearing off (it's been > 4 hours), which comes to another 20mg of DXM. We decide to watch another movie: Speed Racer. However, after around 20 or so minutes, A suggests that we try watching this "wavepaths" website he had mentioned to me previously. It's basically a website with a scientific algorithm that generates visuals and ambient sounds, supposedly for both meditation and psychedelic purposes. I'm up for it, so I get it set up on the TV, with some difficulty--I kept thinking that we couldn't watch the website because I couldn't remember my password to the computer, but then upon clicking my account icon, I realized that I hadn't even set a password. We both laugh. A decides that this would be a good time to pack a bowl, so he does. We get the "wavepaths" website set up (hopefully it still exists at the time of this writing) and choose the "psychedelic experience" option.
Then we decide to smoke the bowl. A goes first, takes a hit, and then hands the bowl to me. I take a hit, and I notice it tastes kind of weird, but having experienced weird taste sensations before on psychedelics, don't think anything of it. (I think you see where this is going) A takes another hit, and then I take one and set the bowl down. I try not to combine weed too heavily with my psychedelic experiences as I find it greatly increases the potential for a bad trip, though I generally like to do it after the peak since I feel almost "let down" that the effects are waning, and it brings me back up close to where I was before. (or at least it feels that way) I'm trying to be more conscientious about my use, however, so I decide to smoke less rather than more this time, and see if I can get the same effects out of less. I also haven't smoked for around 2 weeks, so I know my tolerance is nonexistent, and I don't want to freak out.
I lay back into the couch and start watching the wavepaths website. The visual is basically a large ring whose edges and colors change, sometimes turning into 2 rings, with a background that changes colors. There are weird ambient visual sounds. A minute or two later, I start to have some strange thoughts: that the website was designed by the government to brainwash people tripping on drugs, and then that "Satan is sending me messages through the television". I break away from these thoughts, but I find it troubling, as I realize I am probably extremely high, and my thoughts seem to be going to a dark place. I look around the room and over towards my kitchen island (it's an open plan), and into the window above it. That's when I see a large sphynx cat (the hairless ones) sitting on my island. I do a double take, and it disappears. What it actually is, is a grocery bag next to a bag of nuts with ends that look like pointy ears. However, after staring at it for another couple seconds, it turns back into a cat. This is immediately troubling to me, as I have smoked weed on 300mcg of ALD-52 before and it was never anything like this.
I voice my discontent to A, saying that I feel rather weird, and then, quickly realize that we had probably accidentally smoked some of the MET that was still in the bowl from before. A doesn't respond to me at all, in fact, he's not even moving. I tell A that we probably smoked the MET by accident, and he still doesn't respond. I begin to think that A is annoyed with me for interrupting his trip, or that he purposely put the MET in the bowl so that he could help me "break through", or that he is a government agent who was sent to give me MET on the sly (the government agent thing is a common recurring paranoid delusion I have while tripping). I am somewhat distressed at this point. However, I eventually come to think that I was trying to "break through" on MET earlier, and it seems to be working now, probably potentiated by the ALD-52, so that I should just go for it and take another hit. I do, and A immediately sits up and says "Whoa", then sits back down. I definitely taste the difference now. (It doesn't taste bad, I actually enjoy the indole taste)
As soon as I set the bowl down, the room starts to look similar to what standing in between two opposing mirrors looking at myself looks like. A bag that is sitting to the right of the couch transforms into a tiger. I feel panic coming over me, but think to myself that I cannot abort the trip now, and that I can either freak out or think good thoughts. I focus on my breathing and watch the wavepaths website. I suddenly begin to feel very good when I manage to remain perfectly still. I sit upright on the couch with my hands on my knees, remaining completely still. The body high of the MET is awesome. However, I can feel my heart beating extremely fast and I am clenching my jaw a lot. I also feel like I am vibrating intensely. I begin to hear what I think are auditory hallucinations, but which were most likely actually the sounds of the wavepaths website, with additional minor auditory hallucinations. It sounds like a low rumble and whispers.
As long as I remain completely still, the room slowly begins to vanish, except for the television, as the wavepaths visual is constantly changing, unlike the stationary objects in the room. Every so often, the wavepaths visual would change colors or there would be a loud sound from the wavepaths website, and it would sort of snap me back to wherever my mind and the visuals were wandering to. I saw a lot of different stuff, so forgive me if I can't describe it all. Once the walls of the room faded completely away and I saw what appeared to be a large colliseum with rows upon rows of archways stacked on top of each other, with a figure in each archway, and I got the sense that they were watching me. Several times I would see visuals in the middle of the circle of the wavepaths visual, as that area remained relatively stationary. I saw lots of mouths that were moving in the circle, and at one point I saw what can only be described as a gold translucent insect that looked like a spider, rotating as if it were a 3d model on a computer. Objects in the room would frequently transform into people, and at one point, in my left peripheral, a tall blue alien formed and walked towards me. I immediately turned to look at it, and the scene reset itself.
The entire time this was happening, I was under the impression that some sort of intelligence was trying to tell me something. The whispers I was hearing, I believed to be the voice of that intelligence, but unfortunately they were whispers so I couldn't make out what was being said. I kept feeling like I was on the verge of recieving a supreme gift of knowledge, but it never quite got there, and it almost felt as if I was being mocked--though I didn't find this distressing, but humorous. At one point, I asked, in my head, to the intelligence what it was trying to tell me. The answer came back immediately: "You already know.". In truth, I was seeking an answer to the problems I was having in my life at that point (marijuana addiction, discontent at work, unsure if I want to remain in my current relationship, unsure if I want to move to a new city...lots of stuff basically), and I did already have solutions devised, but I just couldn't make up my mind about what to do, and I was failing to implement my solutions. I guess I thought that having a breakthrough trip would provide me with the answers in an easily digestible format, a neat list of things I needed to do, or something. I was initially perplexed and honestly, annoyed, at the answer I had recieved. But after a moment, I thought to myself that I did already know what I needed to do, I was just failing to actually do it. I tried closing my eyes at one point, to see if that would allow me to completely breakthrough and leave the room totally behind, but it didn't really work. I saw billions of small rectangular aliens with a single eye on the eye of a short arm-like attachment on them, as well as some interesting color schemes. But it wasn't quite the same as what I had been seeing with my eyes open, so I went back to staring at the wavepaths. In truth, I was fairly scared to actually break all the way through. At one point my thoughts turned to sex, and a powerful sexual euphoria was felt across my entire body. This was at the tail end of the MET's effects, however, so there weren't any corresponding visuals.
As the MET wore off, and I noticed that it seemed to come and go in waves, eventually becoming somewhat less intense. Around 40 or so minutes after we'd smoked it, A got up and went into the kitchen to eat some granola. I got up and followed him, worried that he might freak out or get in the kitchen and start tripping out and fall down or something. Standing in the kitchen, I noticed that whenever I would stand completely still, I'd get the feeling in my body that I was going to blast off, just like I felt sitting down on the couch. I kept moving around in order to resist this. I noticed that A seemed visibly agitated, much less relaxed than he had been before. I'm not entirely sure if this was due to the acid wearing off (tends to make people cranky sometimes) or due to the stress of the unplanned MET experience or simply a side effect of the MET itself. We stood around the kitchen for a while talking, and then went to sit back down. Eventually I felt that the MET had completely gone, and we both had headaches. We put on some music and sat around talking for the remainder of the trip. The visuals had mostly faded at this point and I felt relatively normal. We made bagels at one point, since we hadn't eaten all day and were rather hungry, and discussed our experiences. We smoked another bowl, out of a separate bong, at another point. Eventually, once A felt he was sober enough to drive home, he did. This was around 6 or 7pm.
For the rest of the night, I watched TV until I was too tired to remain awake. It was around 4am. I took some nyquil and went to sleep. I knew that if I closed my eyes, I would still have visuals, so I decided to wait until I so tired that I'd just instantly fall asleep instead of remaining awake in the dark with visuals, pondering my thoughts.
==Conclusion
It's been about 3 weeks since this experience, at the time of this writing. For roughly two weeks afterward, I had trouble falling asleep. Every time I would feel like I was falling asleep, I would experience extremely vivid hypnagogic hallucinations. They seemed completely random. I'd often see weird looking monsters. Once I saw a skeleton wearing a suit and holding up his hand, and bright blue light erupted from it. I didn't really find these visions distressing, but they were certainly a surprise, and would often wake me up and stop me from being able to sleep. I slept with the lights on a few times because it seemed to happen less then. For the first week or so, I would also feel the same "blasting off" feeling in my body whenever I got to the point where I was right about to fall asleep. Sometimes I'd wake up in the middle of the night, and when I'd start to fall back asleep, I'd feel the blast off again. It was different than the feeling of falling people typically experience in hypnagogia, it felt as if I was moving forward, not falling backwards; exactly like how I'd felt on the MET. The visual snow of my HPPD (although I wouldn't call it that, as I'm not distressed by it) also completely changed character. It seemed to be much more complex, made up of smaller parts, and much faster moving than it had been before. It also seemed more inclined towards making large blobs of shapes, often on my peripherals. This eventually faded, to the point where I no longer dread going to sleep alone, and don't experience such vivid hypnagogic hallucinations. But it was unsettling.
Honestly, I think I flooded my body with stress hormones during the MET experience, as it was completely unexpected, and combined with the acid, I didn't know what was going to happen. I was also totally unprepared for it at that moment; I was ready to relax, not blast off into hyperspace. While it initially started out bad, I eventually was able to calm myself, and it became a positive experience. It could have been a lot worse. A also did really well with it, and he didn't report any major after issues like I had. I didn't take any more hallucinogens or smoke any weed during this period. I took some CBD edibles at one point, but I found this made my visuals worse, so I stopped doing that after the first week.
I am also happy to report that I have started doing all of the things which I knew I needed to do in my real life. I often think back to this MET experience when I feel the urge to be lazy and not do the things I am supposed to do. I feel more sure of myself and more at peace. Surely, this is the gift that was given to me by the MET, and I am grateful.
[Erowid Note: The term "acid" has been used as a common name for d-LSD since the 1960s. Although confusion associated with newer psychoactive substances has lead some people to use the term "acid" to refer to anything LSD-like or anything psychedelic on blotter or sold in drops, we believe this represents an error and not a useful evolution in language.]
