Ambien Nightmare

I take Ambien every night for sleep at a dose of 10mg. I typically go straight to sleep after taking it, but occasionally will stay up and feel slightly intoxicated, but never anything extreme.

One day when I was feeling bored, I decided to try taking a higher dose of the Ambien than usual. In the past, I have only taken either my prescribed 10mg dose or sometimes 20mg if I feel I'll likely have trouble sleeping. However, this time, I decided to try taking 80mg.

At the time of writing this, I don't remember anything from about 30 minutes after I took the Ambien until the next day. In fact, I stumbled upon an instagram post that I had posted while on the Ambien that I had absolutely no memory of posting. It included multiple misspellings, which is extremely abnormal for me (I would never make a post with misspellings while sober). The fact that I was able to 1) make the misspellings on the post in the first place, and 2) not notice the misspellings before making the post is quite concerning to me. It makes me worry what kind of other things I might have posted while under the influence, since I clearly was not discriminating accurately.

Although, like I said, I don't remember anything from my experience, I do know that as soon as I took the pills, I laid down on my bed and turned on Hulu and apparently was also taking photos of myself and posting on instagram, as evidenced by extremely unflattering selfies that were found later. I'm not sure exactly how long I stayed up, but I'd estimate about a few hours until I got too tired and went to sleep. Strange, seeing as how only 1-2 pills is usually enough to knock me out but 80mg didn't increase the effect enough to make it terribly difficult to stay up.

Overall, the high wasn't necessarily bad, but I wouldn't take such a high dosage again considering the indiscriminate posts made to social media. I typically trust myself while intoxicated, but Ambien is a totally different story. The high reminded me of an LSD trip in a way, even though in a way it was totally different.
