I've heard about Kratom for a few years, never doing much research but thinking because it's sold legally it couldn't be worth much thought. After reading the DEA was going to ban it I gave it a second look thinking there must be some value to it if the government was trying to ban, yet again, another substance.

I have experience with various substances, marijuana, alcohol, LSD, methamphetamine, ecstasy, painkillers and anti anxiety meds.

After reading about its stimulating and euphoric effects I thought it could mainly help me as a mood enhancer, and assist in getting over my alcohol cravings and anxiety by relieving stress and also giving me some motivation and energy. It sounded like it had similar effects as methamphetamine and morphine without all the nasty side affects of being cooked in some lab only God knows where, so I thought it would be worth a try.

I went to a headshop and picked up 12 grams of standard ground up leaf. I was curious about the extracts but wanted to get my feet wet before I got into anything else. I weighed out 4 grams and mixed it with orange juice, and besides tasting earthy it wasn't bad at all. As tea it might even taste pleasent. Prior to this I had eaten lightly about two hours before so I was slightly hungry.

Within about 15 minutes I started to feel calm and relaxed, maybe a little disoriented but nothing that was out of control. Within a half hour of consuming the drink I started to have a very noticeable feeling of euphoria, yet also felt moderately stimulated like I should get up and do something.

An hour in it felt like I had taken some really good pain medication, euphoria was flowing steadily through my body and it was dominant over the stimulation, but I still felt energized. It was as if I took Percocet after coming down from some good meth or amphetamines, a strange combination of feelings from a natural substance. My mind didn't feel sedated, or out of it, I felt very connected to the present and had a great improvement of empathy and understanding and my sociability increased noticabely.

After it came on it lasted for another hour, so I would say the total duration was about two hours. During this time I sat and played my guitar and talked to my brother a little, and I could feel the riffs as if they were alive, I felt astonished as if I was going to weep at how beautiful the sound was. I felt encouraged and motivated, connected to music in a way that I can only describe as heavenly. It was like euphoria and happiness and sadness were flowing through me, I didn't want to set my guitar down. My perspective changed slightly and I perceived things in a new way as if everything would be okay, and that life is meaningful and has a purpose.

I didn't really have any visual changes or hallucinate or have any negative side affects at all, it was a very positive experience. The sky and trees looked more beautiful than normal and my vision was a tiny bit blurry, but I wasn't hearing voices or seeing shapes or feeling anxious or anything else like that. Just euphoria like a good painkiller, a little energy boost like speed and incredible mood enhancement and taking away my anxiety and desire to drink alcohol.

The come down was natural and I slept very good, waking up the next day feeling refreshed with a little glow of happiness. This is definitely a very useful substance and I will be using it again in the future. My experience is that it's beneficial in many areas of healing and improving one's mood.
