I am a 40 years guy, married, 1 child, living in France, employed as an educator. I had an anxiodepressive episode 4 moths ago (burn out), and got a venlafaxine prescription. I take 112.5mg venlafaxine daily when I wake up, in order to manage my depressive mood. The effect on depression is great, but the effects on sexuality are bad, low libido, sometimes hard-on failures, and most of all very very very delayed orgasm (confining to anorgasmy).

Today I tried to correct the negative effects of my prescription by taking yohimbe bark decoction. It worked very well. Nearly 'automatic' hard on, very aroused even without any stimulation. I had a great orgasm. The herborist who sold me the yohimbe bark indicated on the pack '5 grams for a cup of water, decoction for 3 minutes and then infusion for 10 minutes'.

After some web searches (lots of it indeed), I found out that yohimbe bark usually contains 1% to 4% yohimbine (the main active compound in yohimbe). The prescriptions guideline for pure yohimbine-HCl (medical prescriptions pills) in case of SNRI anorgasmy are '5mg to 10mg orally 1 hour prior to intercourse'. So I decided to reduce the herborist indications by 4, making a decoction with 2.5g bark for 2 cups of water (my wife wanted to try it too) = 1.25g / cup. I boiled the bark for 10 minutes in water (with some lemon juice -said to be effective for better extraction and lower side effects-), let it rest for 5 minutes, and then filtered.

Time zero: I took it at lunch time, on an empty stomach, then I ate, and drank 2 little (5cl) glasses of wine (10cl wine equ. 1 standard alcohol dose). My wife took only one sip after lunch, and some wine (half less than me).

15-30 minutes later, thrills began in my back, it felt good. Then some cold sweat came over me, pressure in the head and stronger heartbeats.

45 minutes later came some strange impressions in my vision, a little sensitivity to daylight, and sometimes a sort of tiny fog blurring in my sight. Needed to pee too, yohimbe is said to be diuretic, seems that's true... My wife felt strange feelings, nothing more.

1 hour later, still thrills and cold sweat, still feeling cool, and a beginning of erection under the shower without any (even mental) stimulation. I was sweating so much that I strongly smell sweat 5 minutes after showering!

1h20 Going to bed then was just great, lying under a warm blanket. I had a massive hard-on with pre-cum still without any stimulation. Symptoms of high blood pressure (red face, pressure in the head, heart beating at nearly normal rate but strongly) weren't very pleasant, reminding me of poppers shots, but on long term.

2h I enjoyed to caress my wife's body, skin, lips, sex. We had very sweet preliminaries, and we had an intercourse very pleasant for both of us. I had my first 'normal' orgasm in 4 months. And a great one, very intense. Nb: Before this experience, the only way for me -under venlafaxine- to cum, was by playing with my penis and with my prostate at the same time. But strange orgasms that way.

2h30 After that we tried to sleep a little bit before driving our child back to school, but neither of us managed to find rest. No priapic hard on, the lingam came back to normal size and texture at usual resolution time.

2h40 At this moment I felt a possible urgent need to puke that came for moments, but I managed it. I stood up and did housework, my wife already had stood up 15 minutes before to make some food.

2h50 going to school by car to take my daughter. Eyes still hurt by the light so sunglasses helped. No difficulty anyway in driving, having social chats with parents and teachers, except a kind of 'hangover' that lasted 1 hour more, diminishing slowly.

5 hours, the last thrills faded away, I feel a little bit tired, but no more.

My wife (more sensitive than me to hallucinogens) felt premises of psychedelic experience, but it stopped. She had peeing urges (diuretic activity), and greatly enjoyed our sex time. She told she was feeling like she had taken a little dose of speed.

After all that, we managed our parental life like usual, all effects disappeared 4/5 hours after drinking the tea. I don't imagine what would have been in the same mood with a 2x 2.5g dose as it is indicated. I wrote to the herborist to suggest he write a lower dose guideline on his package, and am happy that I did divide the suggested dose by 4...

Conclusion:
Yohimbe bark is strong. Very great to correct SNRI (venlafaxine) sexual side effects. I divided the suggested dose when using bark (I did not know the yohimbine level within the bark). I counted 1 hour to get 'high' and 3 or 4 hours before the high faded away. No hangover, feels now astonishingly calm...
