For many months, I smoked a cigarette of Calea zacatechichi every night. After a while, I began to add Entada rheedii. Calea zacatechichi is a plant which may be rolled into a cigarette. I use a grinder. Entada rheedii is a nut which doesn't burn so easily, so the most I can do is add a little bit of nut to my grinder and mix it with my Calea.

I cannot swear by Entada. That's not to say I confirm it doesn't work, just that I was always simultaneously using Calea which does work, so I have not performed a controlled experiment. I got a good deal on a bunch of nuts, though, and didn't see any downside to adding a tad to each cigarette. I will just say this much: I don't try to eat it. Worst taste of my life, not bitter, not sour, just some sideways new flavor that is godawful.

I WILL swear by Calea. It definitely works through the smoking route, and increases the vividness and quantity of dreams I experience. Some people complain about the taste of the smoke. It doesn't taste very good but it doesn't bother me that much. I never tried any other route of administration, but I can see how the tea could be awful. I stink after smoking calea. People complain unless I keep my distance from them for 30 minutes or so. I cannot stress this enough.

My cigarettes didn't ever get me high, except perhaps a tad, but they definitely worked for dreams, and I enjoyed a terrific number of often-lucid, always-vivid dreams over the months I used it. I got back into reading books during the 30-minute air-out period afterwards, to reduce the odor.

One interesting effect of my Calea dreams is in-dream 'intoxication'. I've had dreams where I've consumed a substance which I may or may not have actually experienced, and then experienced the effects (or my brain's guess of the effects) of that substance. Calea intoxication is different. Calea intoxication is almost as if there is a bad connection in my brain. I'm stumbling around in-dream as if I'm drunk on alcohol, with none of the euphoria, and importantly, at no point in the timeline of the dream did I drink or smoke anything.

Sometimes Calea intoxication can be terrifying. On rare occasions, the viewpoint (similar to the camera in a video game) does weird things: for example, I might turn my head to the right and never stop seeing forward, as if my head has never turned at all - and indeed I find it hasn't, and I can turn my head to the right again, ineffectually. At its worst, I can wrench my entire body around, grabbing, feeling, and manipulating the environment around me to move, and still no change in my view.

But this intoxication does not occur very often, and when it does, I will always wake up and be OK.

Overall, Calea has brought me many wonderful experiences and dreams.
