I need to start off by saying that I truly love IV opiates. The prick of the needle, the flash of blood, and the warm rush are heaven. But, I generally stick to pills, primarily because I don't want to develop a tolerance or become horribly addicted and practically because I have small veins and sleeve tattoos which make hitting a vein pretty difficult.

My girlfriend is a nursing student..wait stop - to be clear, she never takes anything from her patients...that's not cool. But her brother has a lot of friends and manages to find some good stuff. About 3 weeks ago, he ended up with some 4mg Dilaudid tabs. I've tried Opana, morphine, and oxy..but the planets never aligned correctly for me to score hydromorphone. He gave Annie two tabs and being the super cool girlfriend, she came over pills in hand.

We cleaned a spoon with alcohol and crushed two pills into a fine powder (doesn't take much effort). 8mg isn't for the faint of heart - but I usually take 45-60mg of oxycodone at a pop. Then she added about 1mL of sterile saline (ok that was borrowed from work) and mixed the powder into solution. In a few seconds it dissolved into a clear yellow solution. She passed it through a wheel filter and into a clean insulin syringe. She put her nursing skills to use...

We cleaned my arm with an alcohol pad and she slid the needle in. Despite having small veins covered by images, she hit the vein on the first try. There was that amazing mushroom cloud of blood in the syringe. She pushed and told me to count backwards from 7. 7-6-5-4-3-2- holy shit! The most intense rush of warmth I ever felt flooded my body. It was like sliding into a hot bath. I could feel every hair on my body stand up. I was in a haze for the next few minutes and during that time Annie prepped her pills and joined me in heaven. We sat on the couch for about 30 min and just enjoyed the bliss. It seemed to quickly fade around the half hour mark and it back to normal (for now)...
