Tryptamine reacted with Ehrlich reagent in a glass tube. After a sample of 1P-LSD turned purple with Ehrlich field testing reagent, an unexpected response, we discovered the sample also contained Tryptamine (CAS #61-54-1). A pure lab standard of tryptamine purchased from a reliable chemical supplier and our lab used Ehrlich reagent on the tryptamine, generatin a strong purple color considered consistent with LSD.
