    DXM may act as a Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor. (unpublished research)
    DXM is metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP2D6.
    DXM is an NMDA antagonist.

  • Optical Isomers of DXM
    Both the optical isomer of DXM (levomethorphan) and the racemic mixture of levomethorphan and dextromethorphan (racemethorphan) are Schedule II in the United States.
