- 2C-I/2C-* Sold as "Mescaline Derivative"Jun/Jul 2004: In some underground markets such as parties or outdoor festivals, people are selling 2C* compounds in liquid and telling consumers it is a "mescaline derivative". See the article Myth Debunking: Mescaline in Microdots for more about the implausability of fitting an active dose of mescaline in a single drop of liquid.
- Local and Regional Marketing/Nick NamesSpice: We've received emails from individuals calling 2C-I "spice", as a play on Frank Herbert's Dune and the letter "i". Spice was a marketing name used by a Research Chemical Vendor in Canada for 2C-I in 2004. Areas: Massachussets, New York state, Canada.
